Battyeford Overflow Culvert

The island is now re-open. Here are some details of what C&RT have been up to:

The principal features of the works are:

Removal of the existing failed outlet headwall structure. Placement of large rip rap stone into the scoured areas of the river bank which caused the current structure to fail. Placement of rip rap stone to a 15m length of eroded river bank and also concrete revetment blocks to the same length of embankment to the full height of the embankment. Extending the current piped outlet and fix a trash screen. Fixing new flap valve to inlet end ( canal side) of pipe for easier access and maintenance, the existing one is on the river side which has no access. Fixing of trash screen to inlet end of overflow weir.

The grassed area opposite the club entrance has been fenced and gated following completion of the works.
