South Pennine Boat Club

Boxing Day Floods

The heavy rain over Christmas caused the river levels at Battyeford to rise to the highest ever recorded.

For the first time in the 30 years of the club history, the clubhouse was flooded. A valliant team ensured all the boats came back down safely and stripped out the flooring in the clubhouse.

The recovery is underway with 8 dehumidifiers loaned from members to dry out the flooring and the curtains are to be drycleaned.

Despite all this, the New Year's celebrations at the club went ahead.
